The Pilot Laboratory
Take a look at our pilot lab, where ideas are scaled into real-world solutions with microalgae.
Our pilot lab is equipped with two Industrial Plankton photobioreactors (PBRs). These systems provide the flexibility to produce microalgae at scale and in the format required for different projects. Alongside the PBRs, we maintain harvesting facilities to process biomass efficiently from lab-scale trials through to larger pilot runs.
What We Do:
The pilot lab is the heart of Arctic Algae’s applied innovation. Here, we:
- Cultivate high-quality microalgae for aquaculture feed and nutritional applications.
- Produce live algae for zooplankton enrichment.
- Develop algae-based oral vaccines for farmed fish.
- Capture CO₂ from industrial flue gas and carbon from recycled waste streams.
- Explore algae as a feedstock for sustainable products across multiple industries.
Innovation in Action:
Our pilot lab is where we take on the big projects. At full scale, we test new algae strains, optimise growth at industrial volumes, and refine processes to ensure production is efficient, sustainable, and scalable. This is where high-impact initiatives—from advanced feed solutions to large-scale carbon capture—come to life.
Collaborative Opportunities:
The lab is designed for collaboration with industry partners, research institutions, and innovators. By working together, we explore new applications for microalgae, accelerate product development, and bring cutting-edge solutions from concept to practical implementation.

Contact Us:
At our pilot laboratory, we bridge the gap between research and real-world application. Here, new strains and concepts are tested at industrially relevant scales, turning ideas into measurable outcomes.
